PARALLEL HELVETICA Poster, 2D3D, 3D Type
Closeup Shots of Some Letters
“Your country of Two Dimensions is not spacious enough to represent me, a being of Three, but can only exhibit a slice or section of me, which is what you call a Circle.”EDWIN ABBOTT, "FLAT LAND"
Imagining that the forms we know as the letters of the alphabet are in fact sections of whole 3 dimensional figures, Parallel Helvetica presents the typeface Helvetica as a series of dimensional forms. Each letter is revolved 180 degrees to form a 3d figure, then sliced into 10%, 25%, 75%, 90% cross-sections. The poster shows how each section of the whole letters would look, suggesting a series of quasi-legible parallel alphabets.
